This picture is of Emile Schlunegger sitting with uncle Samuel Schlunegger standing. The younger one is my grandfather Albert Schlunegger "Berger"
This, picture of Emile Schlunegger who was my great grandfather, was probably taken in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec Canada . The name change as the story goes, Albert was supposedly angry with his father. Maybe it was because the name was too long! We will never know. Albert Berger then took his uncle's name of Berger . They came from Switzerland and immigrated from Lauterbrunnen a most spectacular area of Switzerland. It makes you wonder why they left.
We were told in Lauterbrunnen by a person in the town hall that there was not enough work and food at that time.

This is the spelling of her name on the back of the picture of the woman below.
The woman on top is possibly Teres Timmer Arends.
The girl on the left has no name.
I would like to start with the pictures I have of people in Holland and Belgium. It would be very interesting to see if any of their relatives today might see them and recognize them. This is Jan and Annie who where married after the war, I think. Last names are difficult to read. N Gloek and Boshuisen. They lived in Holland, Van Campenstraat, Amersfort.
FAMILY BLOG
This is my first try at blogging, so wish me luck.
I hope to create a place to post family pictures particularly the ones I have scanned for everyone to enjoy.
I am also on a quest to find friends my father made while his tour of duty during World War II in Holland and Belgium. It would be interesting to hear if they are still alive, whether they remember him. I would imagine they would have stories to tell.
